Blackberry Jalapeño Margarita

June 1, 2018

I’m a huge margarita fan! So I always love playing around with different ingredients to make the perfect margarita concoction. That’s where this idea came from. This blackberry jalapeño marg is seriously delicious! I would recommend you try it if you are into sweet and spicy drinks.

I think this will be our go to summer drink because it s not overly sweet. It is sweet, but not too sweet because of the spice from the jalapeños. It is also extremely refreshing. When your sipping on this specialty cocktail, you’re going to want to be by a pool.

I’ve found that jalapeños compliment almost every margarita flavor. If you’re not a blackberry fan, I recommend substituting them with watermelon, pineapple, or grapefruit! I hope you enjoy this spiced up marg as much as I do.

Ingredients

For the rim

  • lime wedge

  • 1/4cup of sugar or coarse salt

For the jalapeño lime simple syrup

  • 1cup water

  • 1/3 cup or agave

  • 2jalapeños, sliced

  • juice of one half lime

For the margaritas

  • 1cup blackberries

  • 1/2cup lime juice

  • 1cup tequila

  • lime wedges, for garnish

  • blackberries, for garnish

Directions

  1. First, you’ll want to prepare your glasses.

Use your lime wedge to wet the rim of a glass then place sugar or salt on a plate and dip the rim of the glass in it and all the way around. Then add ice to all of your glasses before placing in the freezer to keep cool.

  2. Place all the ingredients for the simple syrup in a small saucepan over medium heat, whisk and let simmer for 15 minutes. Remove from heat to let cool.

  3. Once cool, remove 6 slices of jalapeño for garnish then pour the rest of the simple syrup into a blender along with 1 cup of blackberries. Puree for about 1 minute until everything is completely combine. Pour mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a cocktail shaker.

  4. Fill a cocktail shaker with the blackberry mixture, lime juice, and tequilla along with ice cubes. Cover and shake. Strain mixture into chilled glasses and garnish with blackberries, candied jalapeños, and lime.

  5. Cheers!
